Join us for a drink and private viewing of the art from 4 onwards, stay for a short talk and chance to ask questions (at 5pm) of two experts in the scientific and social debates about coma and consciousness. Then, at 6pm, there will be of a short shadow puppet performance exploring ethical issues and family stories

This exhibition builds on the award-winining research on coma and the vegetative state conducted by sisters, Professor Jenny Kitzinger and Professor Celia Kitzinger. The Riverfront, Newport

Created by a team of artists in South Wales and academics at the Universities of Cardiff and Aberdeen, ‘Light Moves’ was premiered at the Arts and Humanities Research Council Connected Communities Festival in July 2014. This year the team has come together again to co-produce an exciting and imaginative new body of work. Working with young artists from Merthyr, Graphic Moves explored their relationship with their town and landscape through various mediums.

The opening night at The Riverfront featured the film ‘Graphic Moves’, sculptural exploration with ‘Mashing Up The Land’ and sound art with a piece entitled ‘Found Sounds and Street Beats’. The exhibition also included video work entitled ‘The Projection Project’ and other visual work displayed in the gallery spaces.

Colum Sanson Regan launched his debut novel, The Fly Guy; a psychological thriller. Seth Oliver collaborated with a group of local artist to unveil new artworks in response to the novel. The evening also featured sound art by composer Sion Trefor and producer Gethin John, readings from the novel from Boyd Clack and Kieran O’Brien and live music from Houdini Dax and Albatross Archive.
